@UnruliPWorkingLunch No9: what drove Mark Thompson & Jerry Fishenden to write a Manifesto for Better Public Services & why are Juliet Whitworth (LGA) & Ingrid Koehler (LGIU) exercised about digital democracy.
The Manifesto for Better public services was launched at the Institute for Government on 27 March. Here co-author @markthompson1 (Methods) asks why the digital opportunity is yet to deliver? In local government the benefits of digital ways of working have certainly not reached the publishing of information about election candidates and results. This makes the whole sector look embarrassingly old-fashioned. Juliet Whitworth @juliet_w of the Local Government Association (LGA) explains why councils need to be making their election data open, and Ingrid Koehler @IngridK of Local Government Information Unit (LGIU) announces an innovative collaboration that will make it possible to publish a live map of the results faster than ever before, and on a national scale.
CLGdotTV - The Local Government Channel have collaborated with LGiU and Mapolitical on this project and our election coverage CLGdotTV - Local Elections Live 2018 will start with a Working Lunch in mid-April and include a Working Breakfast from 6.30 on the morning of 4th May.
