Open data enthusiasts have been invited to try out the local open data demonstrator launched last week by the London Borough of Lambeth.

The demonstrator, developed by Boilerhouse Media with funding from the Department for Communities (DCLG), aims to show the potential of making data accessible to all those involved in decision-making, including users as well as providers of local services.

Interview with Councillor Pete Robins

The data displayed on www.lambeth-in-numbers.co.uk comes from Lambeth Council, the Department for Communities, and NHS sources. Data used has been chosen for its relevance to Lambeth’s Food Strategy.

The demonstrator is work-in-progress and has been released so that anyone interested can try it out and comment on the project and its elements. These include:

  • Map comparisons: these enable users to compare data on maps side-by-side or as maps with charts
  • Add my data: this tool allows users to drop a pin in the map and add associated data
  • Forums: for discussion and feedback

Videos for the Local Open Demonstrator launch will be available soon on this website.
